Black like my Soul

I love Halloween, holidays, my best friend's birthday, weddings, Friday the 13th, and literally any reason to celebrate. I have my apartment door and my tiny little entrance decorated so every person in the building knows where to go for the candy hookup. Oliver also won the Halloween photo contest for our apartment building. He loves the excitement and extra attention. This year for Halloween, per usual, I had my nails painted black for three weeks straight. Why you ask? Black, black like my soul.

Photo Contest Winner!!

I have been insanely busy with work and running and family and traveling and shopping, that I have missed out on blogging. I ran a half marathon, had a family steak night, went to a haunted house, traveled to North Carolina to visit my sister, Jennifer, and her little family, ran a half marathon, and went shopping. I'm aware that I listed Half Marathon twice. That's because I did two a week apart. I get exhausted just thinking about how busy I have been. Since I was traveling, Oliver went to stay with Travis for the week. Every morning while I'm getting ready for work, I feel like I am forgetting something. I get in the car and wonder if I forgot to feed Oliver or take him out to potty. It's such a weird feeling to not have your side kick. I had so much fun in North Carolina spending time with my sister and her family, the return feels lonely. While I was in Wilmington, North Caroline, Jenn made me a pair of jeans. She started sewing over a year ago and has an amazing talent. I have posted a picture below of the jeans she made for herself. She also has a blog, "The Cuban Thimble Crisis", which you should totally subscribe to. We also had Bloody Marys and Bloody Beer (Yum!), went shopping downtown, ran with Emma and Ziggy, her daughter and Goldendoodle, had a driveway party with the neighborhood kids, got breakfast tacos, went to the beach with our coffee, ran a half marathon, went to Emma's music class, got the most amazing chocolate ice cream shake from Boombalatti's, and said our sad goodbyes. Those 4 days were some of the most amazing days I have ever spent with my older sister as adults. Growing up, Jennifer and I were 6 years apart. When you are younger, that is a world of a difference. Just like everyone else, I gave her hell and we struggled with our relationship for years. We didn't see eye to eye on much of anything. With that being said, this weekend meant more to me than I am even able to express, which is saying a whole lot.

While in Wilmington I got sick somewhere in between Bloody Marys and Driveway Friday. I made the smart decision to sweat out all of my sniffling, sneezing, coughing, sore throat symptoms - so I ran a half marathon. I am trying to find races for all of my longer runs so I don't have to run aimlessly around Houston trying to gain miles. The rule of thumb is no matter what your week looks like with running, whether you ran the miles or you didn't, always get your longer runs in on the weekend. Do not miss out on your weekend miles. So, if anyone has a 10 mile race for this weekend, holler at me! Also, if you're wondering, the whole remedy for sweating out the sick, didn't work. I would not try this at home! I am twenty times worse and since I took off so many days for Wilmington, I am stuck at work with a cough that people slide ten feet over when heard. Luckily, I live close to my Momma, who is bringing me soup tonight. Feel the love!

Pictures from a busy week and fun adventures!
