The Next Chapter

The last two weeks of school are absolutely draining. Unlike any other work environment, your year literally comes to a close, you say goodbye to all of the sweet faces you have come to love, wish them well over the summer, and more than likely, if they are Seniors, never see them again. Heart Broken. You build relationships with so many students and parents, you have commonalities with teachers when discussing the students shared, and you become a huge family. Each year we send our "oldest child" off to college or the work force, deal with each success and heartbreak, and prepare for the next school year to begin. From building students up to when they first enter the building feeling anxious and excited and overwhelmed, to the moment they leave for the summer feeling anxious and excited and overwhelmed. And believe me, with summer fast approaching, students get weird, too. They are sad. scared. nervous. excited. Their routine for the past 9 months has a wrench in it. So yes, it is the strangest and weirdest feeling this time of year. We cry at graduation with them. We cry with parents as they sit in our office feeling hopeless dealing with struggles. We comfort our students. We celebrate their success. We teach them how to be adults and handle situations maturely. And unlike parents, we don't get to have the friendship that comes later in life once your child has grown and matured. We are just a helping hand along the way. And honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm okay with my heart breaking at the end of each school year. Educators learn to love and their heart continues to grow. We find the beauty and humor in every situation. My heart will never be too full; There is always room for 500 more.

Thank you to all of the educators!! Celebrate your summer and recharge. Ready or not, the 2018-2019 school year starts in 3 months.

With that being said, when you look good, you tend to feel good. And you know my motto, having a cute outfit does not have to be expensive. So, feel good!

Jeans: Citizens of Humanity Wide Leg Flare jeans bought from Buffalo Exchange on sale. Yes, you can buy from Buffalo Exchange on sale. I think I paid $18 for them. Citizen jeans usually range between $200-$300.

Shoes: Lucky Brand Marinaa Women's Sandals. Very versatile and great for work because they are cute and comfortable. I bought these on sale at Dillards during the last weekend of the month. I never miss a good sale.
