Good morning! Good morning! Good morning to you! And I'm back in the game..the game of work that is. Today is the first day back for all counselors. What a rejuvenating break it has been? Just long enough to be able to organize, gather thoughts, and think about all of the small changes that need to be made so I can have a successful school year. It's an exciting feeling. I love buying new school supplies and getting the "first day of school butterflies." It is so different than any other work environment. Each year I get a fresh start. The first day of school is one of my absolute most favorite days. I love walking down the halls and feeling everyone's energy. So, I use the month before the students return to make sure their first day goes as smooth as possible and all the positive energy feels are in the air.
I have also dealt with a lot of changes this past month. We are moving to a different city, but staying in the Houston area. I will be closer to work, which makes my commute a lot shorter. I also am really excited about getting to attend all of the after school activities. As I've said before, school spirit and involvement mean everything to me. Let me just say, typing all of the positives is the first step. This summer I have gone through a lot of self growth and learning to appreciate everything I have to offer and everything that I am as a person. It definitely is not easy. There was a time whenever I would pretty much do anything to lose weight. I have tried every fad diet. I would run excessively. I would only limit myself to a certain number of calories. And sometimes, I would even hope to get the flu so I couldn't eat anything. Well, Emily.. you got what you wished for. I did get sick this summer. From stressing about the move and work and the wedding and getting in a car accident, I caused myself to get stomach ulcers. I was unable to really eat much of anything at all. I do not wish a stomach ulcer onto anyone, but I think it is what I needed. Why would I have ever want to get sick to lose weight - IT IS AWFUL!! My thoughts were really screwed up before. All I wanted to do while sick was eat without being in pain. I needed to nourish my body. I'm a semi-health nut, so not eating wasn't making sense to me. I needed to eat. You have to eat to survive.. but I couldn't eat. The pain it caused was almost unbearable. Like, I hate going the doctor and I was considering going to the Emergency Room unbearable. Um, Hello. Get it together, girl. Being sick really made me realize that life is so short. You never know what cards you are going to be dealt. Find your joy. Find your happiness. Find where you fit in and find where you are comfortable. Push those limits. I am not always in the perfect mind set. I get anxious way too often. I stress when I can't figure out a plan. I have to figure out how not to be in control, to be in control. Because stomach ulcers do happen, and good luck controlling that sucker.
Enough about my crazy self, and let's talk outfits. I have on one of my go-to outfits today. Super comfortable and work casual. I have received some feedback on my blog and I am going to try posting links where you can currently buy the products at retail price. When you buy resale, it is often not the latest trends. But when I buy resale, I buy pieces that will never go out of style. So often times, my outfits can't currently be bought in stores or online unless you are shopping on Poshmark. Click on the link NOW and create an account. You will be hooked. I am also having a hard time blogging because I don't have a photographer or a good camera. Some days I really want to blog about my outfit, but I really don't have the means of getting good pictures - hence the selfie today.
Also, I find some awesome stuff, but they aren't always in my size. I don't have a money tree to buy all of my thrifty finds either. I am going to start posting pictures on my Instagram of items found that might not be in my size. I will post the size and where you are able to find it. If you don't follow Thrifty and Sweet on Instagram, you are going to start missing out. GO FOLLOW. NOW. The direct link is on the home page.
Here are today's styles. First I am wearing black Hudson jeans - Lydia mid-rise flap super skinny. You probably wont be able to find this specific style, but you can find a similar style. I have linked you to the Hudson website. You can also buy at any high-end retail store (Nordstrom, Saks, etc.). These are originally $189.00 and I bought for $30.00 from Poshmark. I have on a Denim J.Crew half button top. Very simple, but I love denim tops. I have linked you to the J.Crew website where there are different style denim tops. Mine is also bought from Poshmark. It is originally $80.00 and I bought for $12.00. Last but not least, my shoes are Steve Madden Leopard Print Slip-Ons. They are currently on sale at Zappos for $49.25. These shoes are originally $80.00 and I bought off of Poshmark for $19.00. After this blog, if you still haven't created a Poshmark account, we need to talk. You can see all of the pictures below of today's look.
Some days I am more vulnerable than others and will share more of my story. Today is one of those days. Not so picture perfect? But I still have to look cute. Please share my blog like you would share a good deal with your friends.
